Day 1 Arrival in Colombo – City Exploration

Welcome to the tropical island paradise of Sri Lanka. Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our representative and transferred comfortably to your hotel. Colombo, the country’s vibrant commercial capital, is a fascinating blend of colonial heritage and modern urban charm. In the evening, enjoy a guided city tour covering iconic landmarks such as the historic Fort area, the bustling Pettah Bazaar, Sea Street’s traditional goldsmith shops, Kaymans Gate, and the centuries-old Dutch Church of Wolfendhaal. You will also visit the famous Kelaniya Temple, Davatagaha Mosque, BMICH Conference Hall, and Independence Square. After exploring the city’s cultural and historical highlights, enjoy dinner and relax overnight in Colombo.

After breakfast, begin your scenic journey toward Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural capital, located in the lush hill country. En route, visit the world-famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a unique sanctuary established to care for abandoned and injured elephants. Here you can watch these gentle giants being fed and bathed in the nearby river, an unforgettable wildlife experience. Continue to Kandy and check in at your hotel. Later visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of the holiest Buddhist sites in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will also explore the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, home to over 5,000 species of plants, orchids, and towering palm avenues. Dinner and overnight stay in Kandy.
